The week ahead 9th March 2025

Dear Glebe Families,

Thank you so, so much for your collective efforts with World Book Day!

Our children (and staff!) looked fantastic, and I hope your child came home buzzy from a great day, sharing our love for reading.

My thanks to Mrs Hawkins and our Reading Ambassadors for such a brilliant week.

Miss Esmond has pulled together our photos from the day and made a little video for World Book Day 2025 - we will PING you the link!

FIVE REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD:

1. HOLI PLANS

We PINGED you on Friday with our exciting plans for celebrating Holi on Friday.  Please ensure you have read it.  Gates open 2.30pm and the event will happen between 2.50pm-3.05pm - keep fingers crossed for a dry weather day!

2. READY FOR SCHOOL

We love the enthusiasm for our various dress-up days! However, we also want to maintain high standards for school uniform. As role models for our children, it’s important that both children and adults present themselves in a way that reflects readiness for the day ahead. Uniform should be smart and in-line with school policy: www.glebe.harrow.sch.uk/Parents/School-Uniform/

We kindly ask that adults dress in a way that supports this example when coming onto school grounds - slippers and pyjama bottoms are not ideal. We understand that some of you may be coming from night shifts or busy mornings, and we truly appreciate the effort you make getting your child to school on time. Thank you for working with us to create a respectful, safe environment for our children.

3. HAY Y5 and Y6

Our Y5 and Y6 children have been taking part in the anonymous HOW ARE YOU survey for Harrow.  It gives us an overview of how are Y5 and Y6 children and captures their ideas and thoughts about themselves and the world we live in.  We will share the results next term on how our Harrow young people are.

LUCY "The Space” Family Support Idea for the Week:

What are your biggest strengths as a parent?

If someone observed you as a parent, what would they admire if they could watch your best moments with your child(ren)? Make a list of all the things you are most proud of- even if they seem small and simple. Also include those not-so-great moments that you have been able to notice and turn around.

Now, let’s build on those strengths…

Read through your list and give yourself credit and appreciation for all your hard work. Now think of what it is that helps you be your personal best as a parent: what support could help you be that parent more often and how can you give this support to yourself every day? Next, notice when you act in a way with your child that makes you feel good about yourself and do a little celebratory dance, or give yourself a high five! Appreciating yourself will help you be your best self more often and will also help you enjoy parenting even more.
