The week ahead 4th January 2026
Dear Glebe Families,
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
We all hope you have had a magical, fun and safe break over the festive period and are looking forward to a great 2026. A new year gives us all a moment to reflect on where we want to be this time next year, and for our school, we are ambitious to ensure that Glebe continues its upward trajectory and is the best it can be for its children, staff, and families.
As always, you are a part of this journey. So to start 2026, our Tuesday Glebe Gossip Poll returns until February half term in 6 weeks time. Look out for it on Tuesday at 8.30am, to be completed by Thursday 4pm and results shared in Sunday’s PING!

FIVE REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD:
1. SCHOOL STARTS TUESDAY 6TH JANUARY
A reminder that school is closed for children tomorrow (Monday 5th) for a Staff Development Day and reopens on Tuesday 6th January for children – gates will be open from 8.35am.
2. UNIFORM REFRESHER!
We have high expectations and want all our children to be dressed smart and are ready for learning. Please make sure your children are dressed in the correct uniform – details are on our website: https://www.glebe.harrow.sch.uk/Parents/School-Uniform
3. WINTRY WEATHER!
We have a few days of colder, frosty and snow-like weather! The forecast is for it to continue to be cold and possibly some heavier snow. Please take this into account ensuring children have winter coats, gloves, hats and scarves ALL CLEARLY NAMED. Also, remember journey times increase with ice/snow conditions, so please account for that to ensure your child is in school on time. This is a life skill!
In the highly unlikely event we need to close the school because of snow, we will send a message to you by 7.15am at the latest.
Our risk assessment factors include:
- If all teachers can get on site or supply teachers (transport/ roads)
- If all support staff can get on site especially regarding break and lunch supervision (transport/ roads)
- If we have full running water and heating
- If we can safely evacuate the whole school to the playground in the event of a fire (ice/snow on the playground)
- If the streets are safe to enable children, parents and staff to safely walk in
- Any advice from the Met Office or Local Authority
- Ability to receive food supplies for school lunches
If there is a possibility we may close, we will let you know the night before so you can have a contingency plan
4. PINGS SENT LAST WEEK WHICH YOU NEED TO ACTION/BE AWARE OF:
ALL:
- Glebe Gazette (19th Dec);
- Spring Term 1 Extra Curricular Club confirmations (17th Dec)
