The week ahead 25th January 2026
Dear Glebe Families,
So, did you beat last week’s Blue Monday and make it a Bright Monday? We hope so! In just 30 days' time, the sun will rise at 6.53am and set at 5.34pm, giving us over 10.5 hours of daylight! A bit of Spring hope is on the horizon!
FIVE REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD:
1. SAVE THE DATE: Wednesday 11th March 5.30pm-7pm
From around 17th February, Muslims across the world will start Ramadan, with the end of Ramadan and Eid celebrations expected around 20th March. At Glebe, we are planning to host a community Iftar Dinner. This is a meal at sunset when Muslims stop fasting. We are warmly inviting all families to join us at Glebe for this, whether you are a Muslim or not. There will be a space to eat, drink, share, and socialise as well as a space for calm, reflection and prayer. More details to come but please note the date!
2. FAMILY FRIDAY
Our next Family Friday is FRIDAY 6TH FEBRUARY from 8.45am-9.15am. The focus will be on maths and in particular on NUMBER. Make sure you save the date and come and see how your child is learning more on maths in the classroom, in a fun, interactive way.
3. DO YOU BUILD OR CONSTRUCT?
We are really keen to have sheltered/covered canopies for the outdoor area for our Reception classrooms. This would mean our youngest children can go and learn outside every day. School budgets are tight so we are hoping from within our Glebe community, we have people who could source good quality materials at low cost (or donate them through their business/ employer) and be able to build this for us. If you think you could help please send an email to the office: office@glebe.harrow.sch.uk We would love to have this work take place by the end of February Half Term.

LUCY "The Space” Family Support Idea for the Week:
Children and anxiety…
All children feel anxious and worried at times. This is a normal part of their development, as they learn to develop survival strategies when faced with challenges. They are often more likely to show you their anxiety in different ways: tummy aches, needing lots of cuddles and reassurance, struggling to go to sleep, loss of appetite, fidgety/finding it hard to settle, are some examples. Anxiety in children tends to be more prevalent around night-time, changes/transitions/separation from you or around exam time in school.
How can parents help?
Talk to your child about anxiety and help them understand what is happening in their body. “Hey Warrior” is a wonderful picture book that can help you with this. Help them recognise the signs so they can tell when they are feeling anxious and can ask for help.
Explain that this feeling will pass, like a wave that peaks before it gets smaller. When their worries creep up, help them take deep breaths and do this together. Sometimes a cuddle can also help to soothe. Invite them to find a safe, happy place in their mind they can go to when feeling anxious. Your child can either keep a Worry Book where they can write or draw anxious thoughts or put them into a Worry Box. Exercise and movement, as well as a healthy diet, will help to reduce the stress hormones in their bodies. It is also important to keep your child away from violent or scary content on screens. Finally, work on developing positive thinking together and think of what they can DO when they feel anxious. Make a list and hang it up on the fridge!
Sometimes we could all do with someone to talk to.
If you would like to meet Lucy Cohen for a confidential and non-judgemental chat about you, your child, or any other worries, they are available on Tuesdays from 9-10am.

Ok so we have a community of podcast fans! This is interesting to know and will be an area we need to explore! If you have experience or expertise in this, we would LOVE you to help us!
The majority of you feel we are covering this well in education, but a large amount either are unsure or feel we should do more. This will be an area we can review for Glebe and come back to you on how we do this.
SO, the good-news stories are what you want! And that is what we shall share! We are getting closer to the Class DoJo story app! More on Family Friday!
