The week ahead 23rd November 2025

Dear Glebe Families,

Well as we reach the last week of November, it means December is coming and that means the craziness of Christmas begins!  We have lots planned again for December – here is a handy reminder (also on display on the boards in the playground):

Thanks to those parents who have donated Christmas jumpers which are too small for their children but are in good condition – they will be refreshed and made available for families to from 1st December!  Have a look this weekend and drop any donations to the school office!

FIVE REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD:

1. CHRISTMAS FAIR and RAFFLE

I am blown away by how much Glebe families can win in our Glebe Christmas Raffle!  Like last year, a HUGE TV can be taken home on Thursday 11th December!  We also have hundreds of pounds of voucher cards just ahead of Christmas, and CASH and much more – have a look at the RAFFLE PING to see the amazing donations and companies who have donated!

A reminder tickets on sale from MONDAY 1ST DECEMBER, and the CHRISTMAS FAIR is THURSDAY 11TH DECEMBER!

AND WE HAVE A PRICE FREEZE!  The budget on Wednesday may hurt your pocket, but our raffle ticket prices are the same as last year! £2 each or 5 tickets for £8!

THIS FRIDAY is non-uniform day for a NEW TOY DONATION from Nursery to Y2 and sweets/chocs (halal if possible) from Y3-Y6 – these are for the HUGE tombolas which were such a success last year!

2. BIKES,SCOOTERS, CARS!

We appreciate the efforts everyone is making, parking away from school and keeping the road outside Glebe clear – it feels so much safer for our children – thank you!

Please remind your child (and yourselves) there should be no scooting or riding in the playground -   your assistance is appreciated.

3. SIGN UP TO ARBOR

62% of our families have signed up and now have Arbor working – you will all receive your child’s Autumn Report on Tuesday 16th December!

If you have not signed up, or if you know another parent at Glebe who has not or is struggling, please send them to the school office so we can help them!

Details in the PING sent last week to them!

LUCY "The Space” Family Support Idea for the Week:

Help your child feel heard.

Children are more likely to follow our rules when they feel we are listening to them. It can be hard right now especially if people are at home together, or it all feels too hectic however, taking a moment to listen to your child will really model how they respond and react to you. Sometimes it's good to think what it's like when us as adults are not heard or listened too, how does that make you feel? This might be how your child feels.

How can parents help?

Acknowledge what your child is asking for, even if your answer is ‘no’.  For example: "I hear you.  You are saying it loud and clear - NO BATH! You really do not want to have a bath! Tonight, you do need to have one, though… Which do you choose- a bath or a shower?" Offering a choice to your child can be really powerful because they feel they have some control, even if it’s small.

Sometimes we could all do with someone to talk to.

If you would like to meet Lucy Cohen for a confidential and non-judgemental chat about you, your child, or any other worries, they are available on Tuesdays from 9-10am.

You can call/text 07469705850 or email lucy@schoolscounsellingpartnership.co.uk
