Glebe Primary School

The Week Ahead 16th June 2024

Dear Glebe Families,

I know…it is a Saturday and this message normally comes on a Sunday!

But with tomorrow being England’s first Euro match, Father’s Day (a special Glebe thank you to all the awesome dads, grandads, uncles and male role models in our community), and of course the start of Eid ul-Adha on Sunday, we know Sunday will be a busy day!

Eid Mubarak to all those celebrating - we will look forward to hearing of our muslim children’s celebrations on Monday.  For those who do not know about Eid, have a look at this website: Celebrations start Sunday so we are expecting all children in as normal on Monday.

1. Dates in the diary:
ALL WEEK: We have a week-long focus on our CUSP Curriculum for ART! Also, we start our home visits to meet our new-to-Glebe Reception children for September 2024!

MONDAY: Class Photographs are happening so ensure your child is in their full school uniform and look as gorgeously smart as always (Y2 bring in PE kit; Y3 have uniform in a bag for after PE); Have you entered your child in the Cultural Art Competition? Deadline extended to 9am Monday morning (see attachment); 5.30pm optional online termly Parent Forum to update on our progress at Glebe (See below)

TUESDAY: We host the Harrow Music Recorder Festival!  Parents of children involved have been invited to the performance.

WEDNESDAY: We welcome Y2D parents/carers to their class assembly at 9am.

FRIDAY: A special Summer Solstice Menu from Nourish Catering!  Make sure you sign up.  AND…Our Arts Festival Exhibition from 3.20pm after you have collected your child.  It is a free event, held in our hall, for you to come and see our brilliant children’s creativity in Art!

As always there is a screenshot of the next two weeks attached to this Ping!

2. PTFA: Huge thanks to our PTFA and Ms St Cyr and our Glebe staff and families for trying to bring summer sunshine into a cold and grey June! A great turnout and great support which is really appreciated. This small PTFA team went above and beyond to make a difference for our children and it is appreciated. They did so well with just a few of them – imagine if we doubled the size of the team!  We could do so much more throughout the year.  Please step up and join this brilliant team making a wonderful difference for our children.

3. SCHOOL PINGS & COMMUNICATION: Make sure you do a check up of your School Pings at the end of each week to ensure you know what is happening. Also, please share with other Glebe families via WhatsApp groups – the more people know, the smoother things run. Pings last week included:

  • Class Photos
  • Housing advice
  • Y3 & Y4 had trip letters
  • Park High Open Evening for Y4 and Y5 parents
  • End of Y2 Boosters
  • Summer Fair

4. DEBT: We appear to have some families with outstanding debt on ParentPay. Please ensure this is cleared as soon as possible.  Schools cannot have outstanding debts from parents/carers and your support with this is appreciated.  Any issues, contact the school office.

5. PARENT/CARER FORUM: This was started in the Spring term as an online catch up on Glebe, particularly targeting working parents/carers who may not get into school as much – we had a coffee morning in school last half term and this is like an online version where we will discuss ideas for Glebe and progress on post-OFSTED areas. It will start at 5.30pm (not 5pm as previously published) Login via ZOOM

On the horizon...
* Fun and Fitness Week is from 8th-12th July with parent/carer participation so get training 😊 more details next week; also remember we are CLOSED on 4th JULY as we are a polling station

Week ahead weather:
Definitely warmer (woohoo!) and the current Monday-Wednesday forecast is good! Watch for showers Thursday and Friday!

As always, if you have any concerns or queries, use our communication guide so we can respond as soon as possible to:

Enjoy your day!
