The Week Ahead 9th February 2025
Dear Glebe Families,
It was an eventful week at Glebe, with our focus on Mental Health, Number Day and looking ahead to the future for Glebe. Your feedback has been encouraging, and we all appreciate it – thank you! I am excited to be staying on at Glebe, and Governors will keep you updated on the process ahead.
A key theme next week is SAFER INTERNET Day on TUESDAY, and all Glebe adults are invited to a special workshop on how to keep your child safe online on Tuesday morning from 8.50am. Do come and find out more.
We look forward to meeting you on Monday or Wednesday evening for your Parent/Carer meetings with your child’s teacher. If, for any reason, you do not have an appointment, pop into the office first thing on Monday or email office@glebe.harrow.sch.uk
FIVE REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD:
1. END OF HALF TERM IS COMING
A reminder that at the END of this week, we close for half term. On Friday 14th February, school finishes at the normal time from 3.10pm. We then reopen on Monday 24th February from 8.35am.
During half term, we will have a Sports Camp running Wednesday 19th, Thursday 20th and Friday 21st February, including one free day for Glebe children. BOOK HERE: https://eequ.org/book/glebe-primary-half-term-course-with-sports-plus-scheme-12598
2. HEARING YOUR VIEWS
We sent a PING asking for your views on our progress at Glebe, just over a year on from when our last OFSTED report came out. Please complete it by the end of Friday, and we will share the results in our February Glebe Gazette at the end of the month.
3. THE PTFA MOVIE NIGHT
A PING will be sent later today for our exciting MOVIE NIGHT for Y1-Y6! If your child is attending on THURSDAY, they should come to school in their usual uniform. They should bring a change of clothes like pyjamas or a onesie so they are comfortable as they watch the movie. If they wanted to bring a SMALL blanket and SMALL cuddly toy, please send them in a NAMED CARRIER BAG which will be left in the Main Hall until the end of the day. Your child’s year group staff will ensure they get changed after school, or you can take them home to get changed but you must bring them back by 3.40pm.

LUCY "The Space” Family Support Idea for the Week:
Ways to encourage your child to talk about what they did in school today
As a parent, sending your child to school can bring up all sorts of feelings. More than anything, you may be feeling curious: what did they do? How did they behave? How do they act when you are not there? And many of you may also have realised that asking your child ‘How was your day?” doesn’t always encourage them to share their experiences! Give them some time before asking them many questions at pick-up: they may be tired and need to reconnect with you first. Try to chat casually and to ask open-ended questions, talk about your day to give them an example. If they aren’t ready to answer, pause and come back to it later: perhaps as you are playing or eating together.
On the horizon...
Half Term Sat 15th Feb to Sun 23rd Feb, World Book Day Thursday 6th March, Science Week 10th-13th March, Holi Festival Celebration Friday 14th March, Easter Bonnet Parade Friday 4th April
As always, if you have any concerns or queries, use our communication guide so we can respond as soon as possible to.
HOME/SCHOOL Communication reminders:
1. Learning/behaviour queries to class teachers
2. Email office@glebe.harrow.sch.uk if anything needs more support, and they will direct it to the right person
3. Please do not approach each other or children if there is a concern – speak to Glebe staff first
