The Week Ahead 7th July 2024

Dear Glebe Families,

Come on England!  Penalties are a nerve-wracking time for the England football fans, and this time was no exception, but we did it! Is football finally coming home????  🙂

A reminder if you wanted to send a goodbye message to Mrs Anwar-Simmons.  Just click this link:  https://www.thankbox.com/app/thankbox/XaVnBypQ   It will close today.

Week ahead weather:

I need to start with the weather as it is affecting our planned week of activities!  Every day has a chance of rain/showers coverage in Harrow during the day.  After this weekend’s rainfall, the field will not be good, so we will use the playground.  We had planned it all for the field so please be patient if you are coming along, as we will need to adjust the plans.

FIVE REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD:

1. Dates in the diary:

ALL WEEK:  Fun and Fitness Week - no uniform…wear sporty clothing in your house team colour (see the Pings sent Friday)

MONDAY: Y4, WEARING SCHOOL UNIFORM, have their trip to Kew Gardens (see the Y4 Ping sent previously).  9.15am-11.30am Y5/6 Sports & Races morning; 1.30pm (new start time)-3pm Y1/2 Sports - we may not have time for races.

TUESDAY: Y3/4 and Nursery and Reception Sports/Races postponed to the reserve date of THURSDAY

WEDNESDAY: At 9am Y5 Music Performance for parents/carers in main hall;

THURSDAY: CHANGED TO TODAY FROM TUESDAY 9.15am-11.30am Y3/4 Sports & Races morning; 1.30pm (new start time)-3pm Nursery and Reception Sports - we may not have time for races.

FRIDAY: Nursery have their Summer Party with our friends at Kenton Learning Centre postponed because of the weather last Friday - parent/carer volunteers welcome - let the Nursery Team know!  3.30pm Y6 parent/carers are invited to an optional meeting on our relationships and health lessons.

As always there is a screenshot of the next two weeks attached to this Ping!

2.  FUN & FITNESS WEEK: This is a week of sports, fun and a focus on living healthy lives, learning about the olympics and having fun!  Our thanks to Ms Sawicka and Ms Hawkins for organising this and all the staff for the preparation.  An updated timetable for the week is attached so you can see the types of things happening.  We hope to see you at the Sports Carousel and Races!

It is important that your child is wearing the right footwear ALL WEEK - trainers please, not sandals, sliders, flip flops or shoes!  Also a layer of sun cream protection (we will hopefully see some sun)!

3. BOOKS: We ask for an amnesty of books!  Please search around and send your child in with any school library books.  We will not be sending home any more Little Wandle phonic books this term.  If you have any children’s books in good condition which your child does not read any more, we would happily accept any donations to add to our class libraries.  Just send them in this week.  Don’t forget over summer our local Kenton Library will be launching their summer reading challenge so pop along soon.

Also Reading Club has also ended for this term.

4. END OF TERM: As sent in a previous Ping, the plan is for school to end on Friday 19th July.  For the 32 children needing to attend on Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd July, they will come in as normal for 8.40am until 3.15pm.  Thank you for your cooperation.

5. PARENT/CARER ATTENDANCE TO EVENTS: Thanks for responding to the form sent last week.  From September 2024 we will do events and workshops on a Monday or Friday morning from 9am or a Monday evening from 6pm as they were the most voted for time slots.

On the horizon...

* Reports are sent home on Monday 15th July and there is an optional parent meeting from 3.30pm-5pm on Tuesday 16th July.

As always, if you have any concerns or queries, use our communication guide so we can respond as soon as possible to: https://www.glebe.harrow.sch.uk/Parents/Communication/

Enjoy your day!
