The Week Ahead 3rd November 2024

Dear Glebe Families,

GETTING READY FOR AUTUMN 2!
I hope you have all had a great half-term break. Whether celebrating Diwali, enjoying Halloween, or just having quality family time, we hope everyone is safe and well. We have seven weeks for Autumn 2—and yes, that means just over 50 days until Christmas!
We cannot wait to see you all back at Glebe tomorrow - gates open at 8.35am, and close at 8.45am. Please be on time and a reminder to NOT park outside the school!

FIVE REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD:
1. TELEPHONE LINES
We have made progress with this and have been assured that all phonelines will work as normal by the end of the week. Until then, please email in office@glebe.harrow.sch.uk or pop into the school office.

2. FINAL REMINDER: FLU IMMUNISATIONS
Due to NHS staffing, not all children flu immunisations were completed just before half term. The NHS team will return on Friday 6th December to complete these.

3. AUTUMN 2 EXTRA CURRICULAR CLUBS
We proudly start our new set of clubs for Autumn 2! Families who signed up will have received a Ping confirming the details. All clubs start tomorrow, Monday, November 4th. If you have any queries, please email the school office at office@glebe.harrow.sch.uk, and Mr Sankey will look into it.

MAGNA’s entrance will be changing. Over half term, we have had new gates installed in the car park, creating a more secure boundary line. From Wednesday, if you are using our MAGNA breakfast or after-school club, you will need to push the buzzer on the pedestrian gate, located in the middle of the car park fencing. Then, follow the pathway alongside the Kenton Learning Centre to the hall.

4. POSTPONED EYFS PARENT WORKSHOP
Unfortunately, we are postponing our planned workshop for EYFS parents tomorrow. We will let you know the new date as soon as possible.

5. CALENDAR DATES
As always, keep an eye on the school PING calendar which is updated to December now! Things coming up this week include:

LUCY "The Space” Family Support Idea for the Week:
The greatest gift of all: playing with you!
All children need to play. It is their way of learning skills and helps them to release their emotions. Regularly playing with your child will help you to feel closer. It will also encourage them to cooperate more and you will feel more energised!

How can parents help?
You might feel exhausted at the end of the day with all that you have to do. However, all you need is 10 mins of play, which will help both you and your child release stress.
· If your child is feeling over-excited and needs to let off some energy, how about taking them to a quiet, safe space and letting them spin around while you spot them?
· If they are having difficulty falling asleep at night, you could say goodnight to each part of their body.
· If they need some help calming down, perhaps you could blow bubbles together and see how long you can keep them in the air before popping.
· Play football together by blowing a cotton ball around through straws.
· If they are finding a situation difficult, use stuffed animals to act it out.
· Finally, I always suggest following your child’s lead and joining them in their favourite game: let them teach you how to play!

On the horizon...
Mon 11th and Wed 13th November Y3L rescheduled parent meetings; Wed 13th November Y4C Class Assembly; Y6S visit the RAF museum; Fri 15th Nov Children in Need non-uniform day
