The Week Ahead 2nd February 2025
Dear Glebe Families,
Welcome to February, and goodbye to January! Hurrah! We share again the Action-For-Happiness calendar, which can prompt us all to make a positive difference to the world! More on FRIENDLY FEBRUARY here: https://actionforhappiness.org/calendar
We have attached to this PING our JANUARY Glebe Gazette, and it is also on our website:
https://www.glebe.harrow.sch.uk/News/Glebe-Gazette
Our monthly Gazettes both celebrate some of our great learning achievements at Glebe but also give you key information as parents/carers so you can fully engage in life at Glebe and support us in making a positive difference together for our children – it is a great bit of reading to share with your child!
FIVE REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD:
1. PARENT WORKSHOP REMINDERS
This is a reminder that the Partnership for the Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools (PINS) will host another coffee morning here at Glebe on Monday, 3rd February, straight after drop-off. This is a great opportunity to connect with other parents, learn more about services available for SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) support, and have any questions answered.
Y1 Parents have a PHONICS update after pick-up on Friday at 3.25pm (bring your child)
On Tuesday 11th February we have an essential workshop for parents on SAFER INTERNET use. To give you the best advice and support, we have the Metropolitan Police coming to give their insights into dangers for both children at primary age and secondary age. We feel the more parents/carers who know about the dangers out there, the more we can educate and protect our children from online dangers. More details on Monday.
2. GLEBE’S FUTURE
A few of you have been asking for an update on Glebe’s future. Governors have been working hard on your feedback and staff feedback and exploring the best next steps for our Glebe community. Seema Varsani, our Chair of Governors, will send an update later this week on behalf of the governing body.
3. FREE BREAKFAST CLUB UPDATE
Thank you so much for responding so promptly to the PING on this. We now know that just over 100 of our families would benefit from this service daily, nearly 40 would use it three or four times a week, and nearly 70 at least once a week. As a proudly chosen early adopter for the government and now we know the needs of our community, we are thinking through the practical issues of staffing, space, food, and administration. The aim is to start in April 2025, but we will keep you posted on updates.

LUCY "The Space” Family Support Idea for the Week:
Protecting your child from stress
Children today often feel more stressed than we realise. They often feel powerless and are under a lot of pressure, with less time spent in nature, less free-play and downtime, and less face-to-face contact. In order to help them, first it is important to think about your own self-care: slow down wherever you can. Then it is important to minimise their screen time and maximise connection time with them. Finally, you can monitor and limit the amount of violence and upsetting material they access through video games, the news, and other online media, as this makes them believe that the world is a more dangerous place than it actually is.
On the horizon...
10th and 12th Feb Parent Evening, 11th Feb Safer Internet Day including parent workshop with the police, 13th Feb PTFA Movie Night, Half Term Sat 15th Feb to Sun 23rd Feb
HOME/SCHOOL Communication reminders:
1. Learning/behaviour queries to class teachers
2. Email office@glebe.harrow.sch.uk if anything needs more support, and they will direct it to the right person
3. Please do not approach each other or children if there is a concern – speak to Glebe staff first
