The Week Ahead 29th March 2025

Dear Glebe Families,

Now, I know it is Saturday, but Sunday is a big day for our community!

Firstly, an early Eid Mubarak for families awaiting the moon's sighting tomorrow. We are proud of children who prayed each school day through Ramadan, supported by their friends and our staff. We have an Eid-themed lunch menu on Thursday!

Secondly, tomorrow is Mother’s Day. It is a day of fuss, pampering, and hopefully a few little gifts to all our Glebe mums, grandmas, and aunties. It is also a reflective day for those who may be remembering the mum in their life who is no longer with us. Either way, it is a special family day.

Finally, the clocks go FORWARD tonight, so you have an hour less sleep!

That’s why I am sending this today, as Sunday has lots on!

FIVE REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD:

1. EASTER BONNET PARADE...AND THE MAYOR!

We are delighted to welcome the Mayor of Harrow to judge our Easter Bonnet Parade on Friday!  We will send a reminder out again on Thursday, but key things are for FRIDAY 4TH APRIL:
- it is a non-uniform day

-your child should wear their Easter Bonnet/Hat

-the Parade will start 8.45am and be completed by 9.45am

-for ADULTS, please bring CASH for refreshments of tea, coffee, drinks, cake etc AND for £1 per ticket, you might win a GIANT Easter Egg kindly donated from the Harrow and Pinner Lion Society!

-there will be seats in the playground!

-every child taking part will receive a little treat, thanks to your fundraising through our PTFA!

2. END OF TERM

On Friday, 4th April, the gates open at 2pm for Reception to Y2 to be collected (usual places) and 2.05pm for Y3-Y6.  The school office will send a PING to confirm if your child in Y5 or Y6 is walking home alone or being collected.  Term then restarts on Wednesday, 23rd April

3. OUR LIBRARY

With your fundraising and a Foyles Foundation grant, we have £8,000 to spend on brand-new books for our library.  With Harrow Library Service we are doing a full audit and sort out of books before we order any new ones – this will happen in the beginning of May.  If you have ANY Glebe Library books or any children's books in REALLY GOOD CONDITION that your child no longer reads, please send them in this week, and we would love to have them!

LUCY "The Space” Family Support Idea for the Week:

Holiday Survival Guide

Breaks from school can actually feel quite stressful for children, as their regular schedules and routines are disrupted. As we head towards the Easter break, I thought it would be helpful to share these tips once again, to help you minimise the tears and maximise the joy at home.

How can parents help?

As always with parenting, it is most important to look after yourself first. Make sure your own cup is full so you can stay calm. You can also let them know in advance what they will be doing over the holiday and remind them again every morning the plans for that day. Many children will also do better if you keep to some routine and schedule every day, to offer them some predictability. If you can, always include some outdoor or physical activity every day as it helps them to stay regulated. Finally, remember to do less and connect more!
