The Week Ahead 24th November 2024
Dear Glebe Families,
We have had a great week of enriching curriculum activities across the school—from workshops to trips, to cooking and even a Cyber Security visit from the police for Y4-Y6. All these additions enable the personal development of all our children, and my thanks to the staff who coordinate and lead these and parents/carers who volunteer and help.
Our focus on safeguarding and behaviour underpins everything we do. We have been working hard this term to embed new systems, gain consistency, and help our children today become positive global citizens of tomorrow.
To help you to learn more about our “Ready Respectful, Safe” model and safeguarding approach, all parents/carers are invited to a Safeguarding and Behaviour meeting at 8.45am on Tuesday. You should have received a School Ping so you can confirm your attendance.
Thinking about safety, there is a Harrow Council consultation on bringing in controlled parking in the streets around our school. Have a look and please engage with the consultation: https://talk.harrow.gov.uk/kentoneast-parkingconsultation
I am on a training course this week so you will not see me around as much – but Mrs Patel, Mrs Ozdemir, Ms St Cyr and Mr Knowles are on hand if you need anything.
FIVE REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD:
1. CHRISTMAS FAIR and CHRISTMAS at Glebe
Two PINGS were sent last week to outline how we are celebrating the upcoming festive season. Please read the pings, put the dates in your calendar and, as a community, remind and support each other to engage with all we are offering. We need volunteers again for a magical Christmas Fair, so please spare us an hour of your time.

2. PHONE LINES
After many delays, we should be live with our phone system next week. Thanks to Mr Knowles for relentlessly following up on this. We will send a PING once it has all gone live but remember the temporary mobile number remains available 07786 114248 for emergency calls between 8.15am-4.30pm
3. CHRISTMAS JUMPER DONATIONS
If your child has a Christmas jumper that is too small for them, please donate it at the school office. We will refresh them and then make them available for families to help themselves, too—no cost, but you can donate cash if you wish, which will go to our £10,000 fundraising target.

LUCY "The Space” Family Support Idea for the Week:
Building Stronger Sibling Bonds
If your children are having a hard time together, it’s only natural that you try to help them resolve things peacefully. However often this can feel very exhausting for you… and perhaps at times you might worry they will never get along. Studies have shown that couples need five to seven positive interactions to counter-balance one negative interaction. Now this may feel like an impossible task when your children argue six times a day! So why not simply change your goal to helping your children have as many positive interactions as they can? Remember that a smile counts as a positive- so these don’t all need to be major interactions for them to count as a positive! It is also helpful to notice and encourage the activities that get your children playing together and try to avoid interrupting happy play.
On the horizon...
