The Week Ahead 22nd June 2025
Dear Glebe Families,
Last week we had fabulous weather, fabulous trips, over 50 fabulous parent nominations on last Wednesday's THANK-A-TEACHER day, fabulous recognition at the Harrow Film Festival (winners and runners up) and the fabulous final of our Glebe’s Got Talent competition! We have seen so much talent from across the school. As the judges, it was hard to choose just one winner – who was it? Watch the video on the link sent in today’s PING! My thanks to all the staff involved in supporting our children to shine and to Ms St Cyr for leading this for us #gloriousglebe
Don't forget WEDNESDAY, we need all children in school for their CLASS PHOTOGRAPHS in FULL SCHOOL UNIFORM (even if they usually have PE). Check the PING for how to organise SIBLING PHOTOS on the day from 8am.
FIVE REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD:
1. OUR 90TH CELEBRATIONS AT THE SUMMER FESTIVAL SATURDAY 12TH JULY 11am-2pm
We know not all former Glebe pupils were able to visit the school for our 90th celebrations in the Autumn Term. So at the Summer Festival we will be hosting a final chance to look at a range of photos, books and nostalgic memories in our 90th gallery, and have a tour of the school hosted by our staff. Please share the photo below to any former students who may want to come and reminisce about their childhood:

Also don’t forget THIS FRIDAY is a NON-UNIFORM DAY (no theme), in exchange for your Nursery, Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 child bringing in a NEW toy donation for the tombola, and Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 children bringing in SWEETS/ CHOCOLATES (nut free, and some halal and vegan would be appreciated), for the other tombola. Thank you in advance.
2. FUN & FITNESS WEEK 2025
From Monday 30th June 2025, we have our Fun and Fitness Week! Your child will need to wear sports clothes in their house team colours for the week – we will remind children of their house team colours! You had a PING about when your child’s half day sports day is so hopefully you have booked time off to come and join in. Y5 and Y6 parents remember you will need to meet us at BANNISTERS SPORTS STADIUM as their event is not at school!
3. PARENTS PARKING POORLY!
We have a build up again of parents parking their cars right outside the main entrance making it dangerous to cross, or blocking driveways upsetting our neighbours who are complaining to us in D’Arcy Gardens, or doing dangerous 3-point-turns whilst over 900 children and adults are trying to safely walk to school.
WE DO NOT WANT ANY ACCIDENTS OR INJURIES.
WE DO NOT WANT GLEBE PARENTS SHOWING CHILDREN IT IS OK TO BREAK THE LAW. IT IS NOT.
If you can respect these simple points, we can all have a happier, safer start and end to our school day. Thank you!

LUCY "The Space” Family Support Idea for the Week:
Keeping your child safe
It’s a big world out there; as your child gets older, you hold their hand less and less as they navigate through it. The best way to protect your child from risk factors is to maintain a close relationship with them and to let them know that you hear them and take them seriously. How can parents help? Eat dinner together as often as possible and have regular one-on-one unstructured time with them. Teach them to trust their instincts and to stand up for themselves. Empower your child to make decisions and help them develop good judgment.

THE GLEBE GOSSIP POLL RESULTS FROM LAST WEEK:
3 questions...one on GLEBE, one on EDUCATION, one on LIFE.
The results are in (231 parents/carers took part last week) :
BANNING CHILDREN HAVING SMARTPHONES IN SCHOOLS
There is overwhelming support for this, but there is a need to have a conversation together about this as some are unsure, some say no, and some are stuck how to make the change. We will look to have a meeting before the end of term:
BEDTIME FOR AN 8 YEAR OLD
This was an interesting split! 45% between 8pm-9pm and the overall majority between 7.30pm-9.30pm. 3 children are great sleepers, going to bed at 6pm! Wow! May be worth a chat at home about this!
BEST MUSIC DECADE
We have a 1990s parent crew! The majority chose the 90s as the best music decade, followed by the 1980s! My choice is probably 1980s, early 1990s and late 1970s (yes i am that old!) 😊
