The Week Ahead 1st June 2025
Dear Glebe Families,
I hope you have had a great half term with your children!
Here is your Sunday PING to prepare for the year's final half term. We have just 36 school days (excluding weekends) with lots of exciting learning, enrichment and opportunities for parents to be involved, so keep an eye on the calendar!
FIVE REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD:
1. SCHOOL STARTS ON TUESDAY 3RD JUNE FOR CHILDREN
This is a reminder that Monday is a staff training day, and so the school is closed to children. We reopen again on Tuesday, June 3rd, for children. The PAID Rise and Shine Breakfast Club opens at 7.30 am, the FREE Rise and Shine Breakfast Club opens at 8.05 am, and the gates open at 8.35am for all other children to come in. Please use your Whatsapp groups to remind each other!
2. END OF TERM DATES
We end the school year on TUESDAY 22ND JULY this year from 2pm. Please note that term-time leave is not authorised unless it is for an exceptional circumstance. We ask for your support and cooperation. The school restarts in 2025-26 for children on WEDNESDAY 3RD SEPTEMBER 2025, giving 42 days for holidays, appointments and anything else to avoid term time absences. (New Reception will have staggered times starting on 4th September.) Term dates are on our website and have been shared in the Monthly Glebe Gazette!
3. UNIFORM
This is a reminder that all children will need to wear school jumpers with the new GLEBE LOGO on, and Y5 and Y6 will all need to wear shirts and ties from September. Pop to the office if you need support or if you are unsure.

LUCY "The Space” Family Support Idea for the Week:
End-of-the-day Meltdowns
Do you ever find the end of the day particularly difficult? Does your child become extra teary or uncooperative? Even if they love school, it is hard work for children to hold it together all day, faced with so many challenges, people, rules and transitions. When they come home to you, they finally feel safe enough to let go of all the emotions they stored up all day. What can you do? Stop (HALT) and ask yourself: is your child Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired? The key is to prepare for the end of the day assuming that your child could be feeling all of the above. First, make sure you refill your own cup before you pick up your child from school: take 5mins to pause and think of one nice thing you can do for yourself once your child is in bed tonight. When you pick him up, take the time to reconnect with lots of hugs and delight, and give him your attention. Have simple healthy snacks ready to go at pick-up or the moment you get home and perhaps put on some soothing music too. Simplify your evenings so that you can use this time to connect.
