The Week Ahead 19th January 2025
Dear Glebe Families,
I hope you are having a fab weekend!
Now Monday is officially BLUE MONDAY, the most depressing day of the year! www.awarenessdays.com/awareness-days-calendar/blue-monday-2025
We want our Glebe community to make it BRIGHT MONDAY, and to spread it far and wide! So, make that extra effort to smile at each other tomorrow, say good morning to each other in the playground and extra hugs to your family! Our staff are fans of Action for Happiness calendars – have a look: https://actionforhappiness.org/all-calendars

FIVE REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD:
1. FREE FINANCE INSPIRATION FOR PARENTS/CARERS (see attachment)
The Kenton Learning Centre (in our car park) are excited to offer a valuable opportunity for parents to attend their Budgeting and Money-Saving Half-Day Workshop. This workshop will provide you with the tools you need to create a manageable budget, identify savings opportunities, and set realistic financial goals. By attending, you’ll gain confidence in handling your finances, reduce stress, and make informed decisions that benefit your household.

2. ONLINE SAFETY
Over the coming weeks, we will increase awareness of online websites and apps leading up to Safer Internet Day on 11th February. On the 11th, we are also running a parent workshop to share information and give you ideas on the risks and how to keep your child safe. In the meantime, do a health check with your child and their devices – what do they use? What have they saved? What pages have they visited? Who do they talk to online? Can you access their iPad or Tablet, phone, or games console, or do they hold the logins? Let’s work together to ensure we keep our children safe online.
3. OUR PTFA SPRING TERM EVENTS!
Last week, I had an exciting meeting with our PTFA about fun events for our community this term, including a Movie Night, Holi event, and Easter Bonnet Parade! The more people who can help, the better, so look out for volunteer sign-ups and information next week from our PTFA so we can have more fun events for our children this term!

LUCY "The Space” Family Support Idea for the Week:
Children and anxiety…
All children feel anxious and worried at times. This is a normal part of their development, as they learn to develop survival strategies when faced with challenges. They are often more likely to show you their anxiety in different ways: tummy aches, needing lots of cuddles and reassurance. Talk to your child about anxiety and help them understand what is happening in their body.
“Hey Warrior” is a wonderful picture book that can help you with this:
Help them recognise the signs so they can tell when they are feeling anxious and can ask for help. Explain that this feeling will pass, like a wave that peaks before it gets smaller. When their worries creep up, help them take deep breaths and do this together. Sometimes a cuddle can also help to soothe. Finally, work on developing positive thinking together and think of what they can DO when they feel anxious. Make a list and hang it up on the fridge!
On the horizon...
3rd-6th Feb Mental Health Week, 7th Feb Number Day (Dressing up maths themed), 10th and 12th Feb Parent Evening, 11th Feb Safer Internet Day, 13th Feb PTFA Movie Night, Half Term Sat 15th Feb to Sun 23rd Feb
