The Week Ahead 15th September 2024
Dear Glebe Families,
We have completed our first full week of early mornings, getting uniform ready and getting back into routine! Phew! Well done to our new Reception children who have settled in brilliantly! Our school is feeling settled and calm. My Friday afternoon walk around the school made me feel very proud as I could see purposeful learning, good engagement and happy children!
FIVE REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD:
1. UNIFORM – FINAL REMINDER
We are now expecting all children to be in the right uniform. Uniform with the new logo on has been phased in since September 2022. If you need financial support for uniform, please email office@glebe.harrow.sch.uk . If your child does not have the right uniform, we will be contacting you next week to discuss this. Thanks for your cooperation in advance.
2. CLUBS FOR CHILDREN
Mr Sankey and the office team have worked hard to launch our new system for offering more free clubs as fairly as possible. Everything was sent Friday evening, confirming details. Any queries, email office@glebe.harrow.sch.uk
3. CALENDAR DATES
We are hoping to use the Calendar function in the School PING app. As a trial we have set up the term dates. Go to calendar in the app (look under the three-line menu) and please check the dates appear there for October and December (there is a refresh icon to press too). If they do not, pop into the office so we can help.
4. STAR OF THE WEEK
On Friday, Ms St Cyr and all the teachers launched Star of the Week for Y1-Y6. This Friday assembly recognises a child in each class who has stood out linked to our new school rules of READY, RESPECTFUL, SAFE. Not every child is guaranteed to receive this – only those children who go that extra mile and stand out as our Star. Please talk with your child about it. The badge they receive can be worn all year (see attached photo). Nursery and Reception will join in over the new few weeks! Each month, winners will be named in our monthly Glebe Gazette!
5. POLITE REMINDER: Parking illegally
We are asking politely, for the safety of our children and the community, not to park on the zig-zags or yellow lines outside the main entrance on Glebe Avenue, or on D’Arcy Gardens. It is illegal. The law is clear. For further information go to: https://www.police.uk/advice/advice-and-information/rs/road-safety/parking-outside-schools/
Week ahead weather:
Brace yourselves! The forecast through to next Sunday is pleasantly WARM, DRY and SUNNY! No rain forecast! Let’s hope it is right!
On the horizon...
Friday 27th September: We are holding a MacMillan Coffee Morning in the hall from 8.45am-9.30am for families and the local community. We will provide the coffee, tea etc and ask for cake donations brought in on Thursday 26th September. Come along with a friend or a neighbour and let us do our bit for charity.
Friday 4th October: Glebe’s 90th Celebrations start with a parent/carer open session 8.45am-9.30am and an after-school session for current and previous families and ex-staff to come back and visit Glebe and see our archive of historic photos and books from years gone by!
As always, if you have any concerns or queries, use our communication guide so we can respond as soon as possible to: https://www.glebe.harrow.sch.uk/Parents/Communication/
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
