The Week Ahead 15th June 2025
Dear Glebe Families,
After a stormy start to the weekend, the weather in the week ahead looks great! When there is a consistent forecast of 28°C+, we will make it non-uniform so children wear thinner, cooler clothes. The current forecast does NOT show this yet, but we will keep an eye on it! Every day, please make it a habit to ensure your child has a layer of high-factor sun lotion on, a NAMED sun hat, and a water bottle. As a school, we will keep the rooms as well ventilated as possible and look to see if any lessons can be outdoors in the shaded areas if it is cooler.
A reminder as well that national THANK A TEACHER/SUPPORT STAFF day in Wednesday 18th June - we have had over 30 nominations already, so thank you! Let our special teachers and leaders, dedicated support staff member or even a whole school team, how grateful you are by sending a free e-card: https://thankateacher.co.uk/thank-a-teacher/thank-a-teacher-form/ It would take you two minutes and could make a huge difference!
FIVE REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD:
1. SUPPORT FOR YOU
It has been devastating to hear about the tragic loss of life in the Air India plane crash, as well as the ongoing violence in the Middle East and other conflicts around the world. In a community as diverse as ours, we know that many of you may be directly or emotionally affected.
Please be assured that we will do all we can to help your children feel safe, supported and reassured during these uncertain times. Our staff are ready to listen to their concerns.
And if YOU need someone to talk to, Lucy, our in-school counsellor, is available every Tuesday, Miss Esmond is available each day, and your school leaders are always here to support you.
Our thoughts, prayers, and hopes for peace are with you and your families—both here and across the world.
2. FOOD BAGS FOR YOU
We know at time some families may need a little extra support. We still have some fantastic food bags available containing a couple of weeks of basic essentials of food —please don’t hesitate to contact Miss Esmond if your family could benefit.

3 questions...one on GLEBE, one on EDUCATION, one on LIFE.
The results are in (268 parents/carers took part last week)
WHEN TO GET THE SUNDAY PING!
It seems like your 9am Sunday PING works for the significant majority each week, so we will keep it going as it works for you! For those who prefer another day, perhaps set a phone alarm reminder to check it on that day.

ASSESSMENT TESTS
The significant majority of Glebe parents like tests, and a termly test is a good benchmark for how much information children have retained. We will keep doing what we are doing, mindful of our approach with younger children.

CONDIMENTS FOR CHIPS!
Wow, we are a ketchup community, although I am fascinated to know what the 11 parents who chose "something else" are using! DO let us know!
