The Week Ahead 15th December 2024

Dear Glebe Families,

What a week at Glebe! I am still overwhelmed by the brilliant Glebe PTFA Christmas Fair, the huge turnout, the lovely feedback and the happiness it gave our children. Thank you all so much! Thanks also to our PTFA team, you all for your donations and the generous sponsors of prizes for what felt like the longest raffle draw ever!!! If you have any ideas for our Spring and Summer term events, let us know! #gloriousglebe

FIVE REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD:

1. PARTY DAY WEDNESDAY
We have our Christmas Party Day on WEDNESDAY! This is a non-uniform day, and children can wear whatever they like. There will be year group activities in the morning, a special Christmas lunch for all children and staff, then a party afternoon including a special Staff Pantomime! It should be quite a day!

2. END OF TERM 2024: FRIDAY – Early finishes
We end slightly earlier on FRIDAY. 2pm for Reception to Y2 and 2.10pm for Y3-Y6 – usual end of dismissal arrangements. For Y5/6 parents, we will send a PING for you to confirm if you are happy for your child to walk home alone as normal or if you will collect them.

3. START OF SPRING TERM 2025
A reminder that children return to school after Christmas on TUESDAY 7TH JANUARY (Staff return on Monday 6th January). The School Office will send confirmation of Spring 1 Clubs this week, which start on Tuesday, 7th January, as does the MAGNA breakfast and after-school club.

4. PINGS SENT LAST WEEK WHICH YOU NEED TO ACTION/BE AWARE OF:
ALL: The free Christmas Special Themed Lunch Menu (last Wed)
NURSERY & RECEPTION: Sign up for EYFS Concert Tickets (Fri)

5. CALENDAR DATES

MON: By 5pm Spring 1 Clubs Confirmation sent out & all Nursery to Y2 parents please return any Little Wandle Phonics Books

TUE: 9.15am EYFS Winter Concert Dress Rehearsal for parents with Under 3s & Y1-Y6 Street Dance Club performance after school & Autumn Term Reports are sent home

WED: Non-Uniform PARTY DAY for all children (Nursery just morning as normal)

THU: Doors open 9am for EYFS Winter Concert Performance & Spring Term Curriculum Newsletters sent out

FRI: Phase Achievement Assemblies and early end-of-day collection

Things to know about saying ‘NO’ to your child
We all wish our children would just comply when we ask them to do something. However, we all know that really isn’t always the case! Thankfully, it is possible to help cooperation without resorting to yelling, threats or harshness. The most important thing to remember is that children only listen to us because of who we are to them. So be sure to keep strengthening your relationship: consciously connect with them before giving them a direction. Kids will accept your limit when you first accept their feelings about your limits (sadness, anger, disappointment…).
