The Week Ahead 14th September 2025
Dear Glebe Families,
We have completed our first full week of early mornings, being smartly dressed in uniform and getting into routines – with quite a few weather challenges! Phew! Well done to our new Nursery and Reception children who have settled in brilliantly and the EYFS team for their commitment to making this happen! Our school is settled and happy.
And of course, thank you for attending on Friday! Over 250 of our Glebe Parents came to “Meet the Team” and help us launch “Family Friday”, learning more on our 6-step approach to Glorious Glebe teaching!
The dates for all the Family Fridays are at the end of this update. The first one each half term, will help you see the teaching approach/pedagogy in action, and the second one in the half term is where our children will demonstrate their learning, developing their vocabulary and oracy skills.
FIVE REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD:
1. PTFA NINJA WARRIOR ASSAULT COURSE!
On FRIDAY our Ninja Warrior event takes place! ALL CHILDREN, ALL DAY should wear their PE KIT. The event will have their experience on the huge slide, a gladiator duel and the big inflatable obstacle course! Each class will have a slot, and we will support every child to complete every challenge. Money raised is going toward new ipad tablets for children, EYFS shaded areas and of course more books. If you can encourage your friends and family and colleagues at work to get involved, please share this link via your social meedia, whatsapp and any links you have:
https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/glebeschool-ptfa?utm_medium=CR&utm_source=CL
Parents if you would like to have a go, we will be open after school in 2 sessions:
3.20pm-3.40pm and 3.40pm-4pm for £3 per adult. You can go on, and your child goes free (but you must be with them!). Look out for the school PING to sign up.
2. POLITE REMINDER: Parking illegally (ARE THEY SAFE?)
We are asking politely, for the safety of our children and the community, not to park on the zig-zags or yellow lines outside the main entrance on Glebe Avenue, or on D’Arcy Gardens. It is illegal. The law is clear. Similarly, our local residents must not have their driveways blocked. It is rude to do this. For further information, go to: https://www.police.uk/advice/advice-and-information/rs/road-safety/parking-outside-schools
3. STAR OF THE WEEK
On Friday, Ms St Cyr and all the teachers launched Star of the Week for Y1-Y6. This Friday assembly recognises a child in each class who has stood out, linked to our school rules of READY, RESPECTFUL, SAFE. Not every child is guaranteed to receive this – only those children who go that extra mile and stand out as our Star for that week. Talk with your child about it! The badge they receive can be worn all year. Nursery and Reception will join in next term! Winners will be named in our monthly Glebe Gazette!

THE GLEBE GOSSIP POLL RESULTS FROM LAST WEEK:
3 questions...one on GLEBE, one on EDUCATION, one on LIFE.
GLEBE: What makes the Glebe community feel strong?
The majority put staff and shared values as the biggest contributors and our staff are committed to Glebe, and as we saw on Friday, you share our values around “making a positive difference together” by turning out in your numbers!
EDUCATION: If you could add one new subject to primary schools, what would it be?
Coding and digital skills scored highly and with your support to enable us to buy more iPad/tablets, we can do more digital work too. Financial literacy is key too – look out for our CUSP MONEY MATTERS session we do with children on 23rd September!
LIFE: What’s your go-to takeaway treat?
So, was there a pizza take-away in your household this weekend? Glebe families seem to love their pizza or an indian take away the most!
