The Sunday PING 26th April 2026

Dear Glebe Families,

Have you saved the date for our SUMMER FESTIVAL? It is on SATURDAY 11TH JULY from 11am-3pm and we want our whole community to be there, and bring a friends, neighbours and family too!

Big events like this need lots of volunteers, so if you can spare us time setting up the Friday night or early Saturday morning before the festival, during the fair, or packing up after, please email office@glebeschool.org with your name and your mobile number and we will pass on your email and mobile.

Also, if you are part of a band, music group, dance group or have any other form of entertainment link, we would welcome you to volunteer to perform at our community event.  The theme is around the World Cup, so international performances are welcomed along with our very own Glebe’s Got Talent finalists!  Let me know or email the school with details.

A quick update from NOURISH – a parent spotted a blip with the Nourish app as the menu had not been updated and apologies about the mix up for St George's day menu last week.  Whilst they fix it, you can see the menu on our website: https://www.glebe.harrow.sch.uk/Parents/School-Meals/  WE ARE IN week three:

FIVE REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD:

1. ATTENDANCE AND FINES (From Ms St Cyr)

Thank you all for the positive commitment in getting our children into school, and on time.  We cannot stress enough how important it is for your child to have the learning right at the beginning of the day.  This sets the tone for the rest of the day.

Unfortunately, we have had to issue 25 Fixed Education Penalty Notices so far this year because parents are taking their children abroad for various reasons.  I know that it is cheaper and tempting to do so - but it does mean that we are obliged by Local Authority to issue the EPNs and children miss out on learning and school events.

FOR CLARITY, if any child misses a total of 5 days or 10 sessions (for ANY unauthorised reason), a fine will be issued and this stays on their school file.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to come and talk to us at the office.

2. BIRTHDAY SUCCESS FOR OUR FREE “RISE AND SHINE” BREAKFAST CLUB

A year ago this week we were one of only three schools in Harrow launching a free breakfast club.  It has been so successful we are now recognised as one of a small handful of schools nationally who are a Department for Education Champion School! We are supporting other schools in how to set up and run a successful breakfast club.

Don’t forget we also have a paid breakfast club offer from 7.30am for £2.50.  You can book this through your Arbor app by 7am on the day you need it.

We want to keep improving our offer at Glebe too, so from after May half term, we are looking to include NURSERY children into the free breakfast club!  That will change their times to 8.05am-11.40am.  We will message Nursery parents separately so they can sign up.

And a special GOOD LUCK to our very own Ms Susie, who you may know from our breakfast and after-school clubs, as she is running the LONDON MARATHON TODAY!  Look out for her as she will be running alongside TV celebrity Joe Wicks!

3. PLANNING FOR 2026-27

If any families are sadly thinking about relocating home over summer and may be leaving us at Glebe, it would be really helpful to know – just send an email so we are aware it is a possibility, to office@glebeschool.org .

But similarly, if you know of families moving into the area, or looking for a new school for their child, please share our email with them, and the office can help them become a part of our Glorious Glebe family 😊

LUCY "The Space” Family Support Idea for the Week:

Developing Friendship Skills

School is the place where children learn to navigate the world of friendships. At this age, alliances often shift and change. Learning to make friends and get along with peers can cause some distress to most children.

How can parents help?

It is important to listen to your child’s experiences with peer challenges. Instead of telling them what to do or immediately go in to finding a solution, help them problem-solve as this builds essential skills.  It is good to clarify and try an understand their feelings, sometimes they just need to tell you something. It is always best to stay away from taking sides with either child- offer empathy for all of your child’s feelings and also reflect together on how their peer might be feeling. Coach your child to stand up for themselves using their words and help them learn to express their needs rather than attacking their friend. It is helpful to practice this together!

Sometimes we could all do with someone to talk to.

If you would like to meet Lucy Cohen for a confidential and non-judgemental chat about you, your child, or any other worries, they are available on Tuesdays from 9-10am.

You can call/text 07469705850 or email lucy@schoolscounsellingpartnership.co.uk
