The Sunday PING 19th April 2026

Dear Glebe Families,

We have had a great first week back, and it has been wonderful to enjoy some sunshine!

Your child may have mentioned a change during break and lunch times.  The feedback from children was sometimes that the playground feels busy and noisy, as we have lots of children outdoors at the same/similar times.  So we have changed this. Morning break, Y3 now join Y1 and Y2 for break, giving Y4-Y6 more space in the playground when it is their time for break; at lunchtimes, Y5 and Y6 use the field (weather permitting), giving Y3 and Y4 more space.  We have seen an immediate improvement, and children's feedback is that it is better for them and that they feel safer!

The importance of listening to pupil voice!

FIVE REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD:

1. DANGEROUS ADULTS 😡

We had a near miss when a selfish parent decided to break the law because they could not be bothered to park in a legal, safe space, creating a dangerous issue for another family and their children.  This parent is modelling to their children that it is ok to break the law, which is incredibly poor parenting.

Stop it.  A minority of parents are disrespecting the law and serving as poor role models to their own children.  Be better.

2. PARENT EVENING AND CLUBS IMPACT

There is Parent Evening 2 tomorrow for Reception to Y6.  Wait in the playground or by the front entrance until 3.30pm (we give teachers a short comfort break and time to set up).

With Monday after school clubs, Spanish, Watercolouring, Debate Team and Esports Clubs are CANCELLED as the teachers have parent evening.

Multisports (Y1-Y3) is still running in the Main Hall, and JAG is still on in the Dining Hall.

3. INTERNATIONAL DAY OF CULTURE - POSTPONED

On Friday, we were planning an international day, we have postponed this to late June/early July to coincide with the World Cup and the PTFA Summer Festival.  A new date will be shared soon.  If you would like to be involved or have ideas for any community groups who may like to perform or be involved, let Mrs Patel know!

LUCY "The Space” Family Support Idea for the Week:

📚 Supporting Your Child with Assessment, Test and Exam Stress

Tests can be a challenging and stressful time for many children and young people. Feeling some pressure is normal, but when stress becomes overwhelming, it can affect sleep, concentration, and overall wellbeing. As parents and carers, your support and understanding can make a big difference.

🧠 How to Recognise Exam Stress

Common signs your child might be struggling with stress include:

  • Difficulty sleeping or changes in appetite
  • Irritability, mood swings, or withdrawal
  • Feeling overwhelmed or anxious
  • Difficulty focusing or completing work
  • Complaints of headaches or stomach aches

❤️ How Parents and Carers Can Help

  • Create a calm study environment
  • Help your child organise a quiet, clutter-free space for revision with minimal distractions.
  • Encourage regular breaks and physical activity
  • Short breaks and exercise help reduce stress and improve concentration.
  • Promote healthy sleep habits
  • Encourage consistent bedtimes and limit screen time before sleep.
  • Support a balanced routine
  • Encourage a balance of study, relaxation, social time, and hobbies.
  • Be positive and encouraging
  • Praise effort rather than just results. Let your child know their worth isn’t defined by exam grades.
  • Talk openly about feelings
  • Let your child share their worries and listen without judgement. Sometimes just knowing someone understands helps hugely.
  • Help with planning
  • Support your child to break revision into manageable chunks and create a realistic timetable.

Sometimes we could all do with someone to talk to.

If you would like to meet Lucy Cohen for a confidential and non-judgemental chat about you, your child, or any other worries, they are available on Tuesdays from 9-10am.

You can call/text 07469705850 or email lucy@schoolscounsellingpartnership.co.uk
