The Sunday PING 17th May 2026

Dear Glebe Families,

We are coming up to the last week of term already! At the end of the week ahead, half term starts from 3.30pm on FRIDAY 22ND MAY!

Excitingly, we had our HIGHEST ATTENDANCE WEEK of the year so far with 97.8% of all our children in school EVERY DAY! That puts us in the top 5% of schools nationally last week!  WELL DONE EVERYONE!

Praise also to the whole school for supporting our Y6 children during the national SATs week.  For over 600 children and adults to keep the school quiet to support our Y6 children demonstrates the teamwork and togetherness of our school, and I am very proud.

More test and assessment weeks are happening over the next 4 weeks.

Nationally, Y1 and some Y2s have their phonics screening, and Y4 have their Multiplication Tables check week beginning 8th June.

For our own Glebe assessments, EYFS have their final observation assessments, and Y1-Y5 will also have their tests between 1st June and 19th June, which will help to inform our final teacher assessments of attainment, which will be shared with you in their end-of-year reports sent home on Tuesday, 14th July.

Learning and attainment keeps improving at Glebe.  We have more to do, and the trajectory is looking positive.

FIVE REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD:

1. GLEBE’S GOT TALENT

We are hoping your child has told you about this, as the competition starts tomorrow!  We want to showcase our children and celebrate their talents.  You have seen Britain’s Got Talent…we are wanting to be as impressed with your child’s skills, talents and gifts and see if they can go on to be our Glebe’s Got Talent finalists for 2026!  Parents can see more on Class Dojo/ Tapestry over the next week!

2. SUMMER FESTIVAL – SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY!

We are putting a final call out to our Glebe community so we finalise your Summer Festival on SATURDAY 11TH JULY 11am-2pm.  If you can help, donate, encourage your workplace or company to donate a raffle prize, or just give an hour to help set up, it would be brilliant.  I ASK EACH OF YOU TO please fill in this form: OUR SUMMER FAIR FESTIVAL 2026 – Fill in form, even if it is just confirming you are not available.

Y6 Parents, you will be needed on the day!  More to follow next week!

LUCY "The Space” Family Support Idea for the Week:

Is your child behaving younger than usual?

When children feel worried or stressed, they can often behave in ways they used to when they were younger. This can be quite common during periods of family upheaval or complex world events, because of all the changes in their routines and the worries in and around them. You may have noticed that they are having trouble sleeping or focusing. Perhaps they have become clingier to you and need more reassurance than usual. Or your child may burst into tears or fits of anger more easily. So, even if they may not be telling you directly that they are feeling stressed or overwhelmed, their behaviour is their way of letting you know. They are feeling big feelings and are finding it more difficult to cope than usual.

How can parents help?

The most important way to help a child feel less stressed is to reassure them both emotionally and physically.  First, you may want to ask less of them and take away any extra pressures. When they are having their big feeling, bursting into tears or getting angry, it is helpful to empathise with how challenging things are for them and then help them with what they are finding difficult to do: “Oh, everything just seems like too much at the moment… You are having such a hard time. Don’t worry, I am right here to help you…” You can also make sure to keep ‘filling their buckets’ by giving them lots of snuggles, playing and creating things together, spending some time outside if you can and moving and dancing together. If you can, it is also good to have regular time listening to each child’s worries. This change in behaviour can feel difficult for parents, so take a deep breath and try to remember this is their way of saying: “I need your help.”

Sometimes we could all do with someone to talk to.

If you would like to meet Lucy Cohen for a confidential and non-judgemental chat about you, your child, or any other worries, they are available on Tuesdays from 9-10am.

You can call/text 07469705850 or email lucy@schoolscounsellingpartnership.co.uk
