The Week Ahead 8th September 2024
Dear Glebe Families,
We are back! Thank you so much for the great feedback following our Meet the Team sessions for Y1-Y6. We are excited about the year ahead, and we will give our Glebe children the best we can! We will send a School Ping of the presentation slides later today in case you could not attend on Friday.
For New Nursery and Reception families, we will invite you in for a look around once your child starts doing their full hours. Look out for a School Ping in the next couple of weeks!
FIVE REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD:
1. UNIFORM – everyone in the right uniform by 16th September please.
Thanks for making such a great effort with uniform. A reminder all Y5 and Y6 children should be wearing a tie. We ask for only Book Bags (not big rucksacks) as we have limited space to store them in class. Children can wear their smart school PE kit all day on their PE days, and their normal uniform on the other days. Details are here: https://www.glebe.harrow.sch.uk/Parents/School-Uniform/
2.AUTUMN TERM 1 CLUBS:
MAGNA will continue their breakfast and after-school club (https://magna.childcare-online-booking.co.uk/ ).
I have attached the overview of clubs for AUTUMN 1. We will send out School PINGS on TUESDAY for you to choose a first, second and third choice of club to be completed by THURSDAY at 9am. If we cannot give you your first choice this half term, we will next half term. Confirmation of your clubs will be by the end of FRIDAY. Moving forward we will give more notice to sign up for the next half term.
3. SAFEGUARDING REMINDERS
Please remember to stand back when you collect your child at the end of the day, so staff can safely send the right child to the right adult. Later today a School PING will be sent to Y5 and Y6 families if they wish to permit their child to walk home alone. They will NOT be permitted to collect younger siblings – if this is your wish, please arrange to speak to Ms St Cyr first.
Children do not need mobile phones at this age and definitely not expensive Smartphones. If you must send your child with one, they must hand it into the school office at the start of the day and collect it at the end of the day. If we find a child with a phone on them during the day, we will confiscate it and ask to meet with you and your child before returning it. Remind your child never to walk and talk on their phone in public to avoid them being an easy target for theft or robbery.
4. LUNCH
A reminder only Reception parents will need to pre-order their child’s lunches on ParentPay. Y1-Y6 children now just “choose with their eyes”. If your child has developed a food allergy and you have not yet told us, please meet Ms St Cyr as soon as possible to discuss it.
Y3-Y6 children can bring in their own Fruit-based snack for morning break if you wish.
5. ABSENCE and TERM DATES: A reminder our 2024-25 term dates are here: https://www.glebe.harrow.sch.uk/Parents/School-Day-and-Term-Dates/
Recent changes to the law on school attendance came in from 19th August 2024 regarding leave in term-time. Under the new rules, all schools will be expected to look at issuing fines for unauthorised absences. Fines will be £80 if paid within 21 days of being issued and then doubled to £160 if they are paid between 21 and 28 days. You can only receive two of the fines in a three-year period and then the issue may be escalated to a parenting order or prosecution. Fines that may then be issued after prosecution can rise to £2500.
